Can You Really Grow Your Brows Back?

Slowly back away from the tweezers! “In the ‘90s, pencil thin brows were the hottest trend because of their popularity on 90210,” explains Maral Bailan of of the Warren Tricomi Salon. “[However] as we moved further into 2000, a more natural, fuller look became popular. The trend really has taken off in the past 5 years.”
Find a Brow Muse
A picture is worth a thousand words, especially when it comes to framing your face. “People come in looking for full brows that still have shape,” explains brow master Jessica Bartley at NYC’s Boom Boom Brow Bar. “For the girls that want to keep things a little more sleek we see a lot ofKim Kardashianphotos being brought in. Find Someone You Trust
“Unfortunately, some eyebrow areas may never grow back due to dead hair follicles,” explains celebrity makeup artist and eyebrow specialist, Vanessa Evelyn of Petra Alexandra, Inc. “Look for a specialist who can work with your present shape and recreate a brow that complements your individual face shape. Fill in sparse brows with a pencil using light, feather-like strokes to mimic the appearance of hair. I personally tend to stay away from powders because they can register as artificial-looking.”
Yes, You Can Stunt Hair Growth
“[Remember], in all types of hair removal, follicles are being removed from the root,” explains Umbreen Sheikh, owner and CEO of Wink Brow Bar. “Hair will typically grow within a 4 week period, that being said, brows definitely can and will grow back if you wax. Of course, I prefer threading because it actually stimulates hair growth by exfoliating the top layer of skin around the eyes, allowing a healthier follicle to develop and grow.”

No, Your Brows Don’t Grow Slower
Think your brows grow slower than anywhere else? Not so fast! “Body hair generally grows on a cycle of about 28 days—the brows included,” debunks Bartley. “So essentially, if you pull out the hair, it will take about 28 days to grow back in to the point where it can be removed again. This is why we tell our clients not to come in more than once a month for a shaping. It’s best to keep all of your brow hair on one growth cycle. Plus, the shape lasts much longer that way!”
Consider a Supplement
“You can definitely try vitamins, I personally prefer B-complex and C to help stimulate healthy hair growth by nourishing the body from the inside out,” shares Sheikh. “When the body is healthy, the hair is healthy!” Just remember you can’t target hair growth with oral supplements—so anticipate extra haireverywhere.
“Just like growing out a bad attempt at bangs takes time, so does growing in your brows!” Bartley reminds us. “Put down the tweezers and let your brow specialist help you come up with a plan.
